Riki Schumacher was born with a Caribbean blue crayon clinched in her fist, still her favorite color. She studied graphic arts in college with a degree in Visual Communications, learning printing, graphics, photography and how to teach. Art will forever flow in her veins.
Riki has been a jewelry designer and teacher for fifteen years. After retiring from a brief career of twenty years in sales and management advertising, she returned to her passion…art. Exploration began in jewelry making, studying with the masters in that craft. Now Riki travels as far away as France to find the perfect vintage objects for her creations, giving them that romantic flare she loves.
You can find her designs in juried art festivals, as well as various boutiques nationally. She has been featured often in prestigious art publications such as Stampington’s Jewelry Affaire and Belle Armoire Jewelry.
Teaching has become an important part of her mixture. Previously on the faculty at Adorn Me, 2013 brings Riki to national mixed media retreats like Vivi Magoo and Art is You, also teaching at smaller venues in Washington state and California. This is Riki’s second year as an instructor with Artful Gathering, recognizing the power of classes on line as well as the convenience for the students. “What a great way to meet artists all over the world, allowing them to bring you to their home for instruction, while still in their jammies!” Be sure to check out Riki’s workshops. Students have shared rave reviews about her classes, saying she produces quality instructional videos, which are also fun!
